Belgium has experienced several floods and overflows river in recent years. Often resulting in catastrophic consequences for both the watercourses and their surrounding areas. Faced with these recurring challenges, policymakers have been compelled to explore solutions aimed at curbing these disasters and mitigating the associated material and human damage. The RIVIALIS project is a solution that was chosen.
RIVIALIS is a project which consists of designing an application which makes it possible to manage, study and simulate river systems. This will make it possible to identify areas of overflow and flooding, and to locate and estimate the renaturation work.
The application to be developed is a hydraulic digital twin.
The project mobilizes many stakeholders specialized in the geographic field and the field of new technology and artificial intelligence.
