Chaire Bauchau 2022 | Opening lesson - Glycosylation: rare modifications matter

General theme | Shining light in the dark alleys of biochemistry: errors and opportunities

Catégorie : conférence/cours/séminaire (spécialisé)
Date : 16/03/2022 17:00 - 16/03/2022 20:00
Lieu : University of Namur, auditorium M01 (Faculty of medicine)
Orateur(s) : Professor Guido Bommer, MD, PhD | Institut de Duve - UCLouvain
Organisateur(s) : Department of biology
Abstract

Mutations in more than 10 different genes lead to defects in glycosylation of the protein alpha-dystroglycan, therby causing neuromuscular diseases.  The machinery that is required to introduce an evolutionary ancient modification, and how reusing existing machinery makes this system more robust will be discussed.

Welcome to all - Participation is free.
