Coronavirus, the UNamur supports the country with another diagnosis method in collaboration with the KUL
The UNamur has developed a diagnosis tool and a new work method, which avoid the use of reagents in shortage. The technique enables diagnosis in support to reference laboratories.
The available space for diagnosis is applicable in laboratories worldwide. The method is sharable. Its implementation relies on chemistry, working force and solidarity between researchers. It can be developed anywhere in the world.
Six laboratories are collaborating at UNamur
This collaboration, with 12 researchers, helped by 12 research logisticians, enables to rise the number of daily tests to 480.
This significant increase will enable to target the new propagation cores, and in particular, to test the most exposed people: physicians and the front line health staff.
The UNamur as subcontractor
The tested samples come from the reference centers of the KUL or the CHU UCL Mont-Godinne and go back as soon as the diagnosis is completed. No sampling will be performed on the UNamur premises.
The UNamur has been accredited the necessary biosecurity certification, which enables optimal security conditions for the manipulations and has just received the agreement of AFMPS (Federal Agency for Medicine and Health Products).
