Défense de thèse de doctorat en sciences chimiques : "hetero-fused aromatics"

One of the recent and appealing approaches for the continuously demanding market of electronic devices encompasses the exploitation of organic compounds as conceivable electronic components, resulting in a fundamental transition from silicon-based electronic devices to molecular electronics. In particular, the use of conjugated molecules as elemental building blocks for molecular materials has driven research efforts towards the development of high performing new materials. 

In this doctoral work, our research activities were directed towards the different aspects for the successful development of molecular electronics. In particular, the first and primordial feature concerns the preparation of single molecule constituents presenting unique opto-electronic properties. Subsequently, an investigation of the assemblies formed by the single component in order to obtain higher ordered of organisation has to be undertaken. Finally, in-depth knowledge and understanding of the substrate-molecules interfaces to examine how the substrate can influence the organic films and reciprocally need to be achieved.
